Protesters gathered across O Street on a rainy Labor Day , some taking shelter underneath awnings and overhangs while others stood in jackets or under umbrellas.

The rallies were another installment of the 50501 Lincoln protests which are part of an effort to have ongoing protests in all 50 states . Holly Johnson, one of the organizers in Lincoln, said the theme of the protest was "Workers Over Billionaires."

She said unions have gained rights for many workers in all sectors of the country.

“They've done so much for us by picketing and holding the line for us, which is a really firm pillar of democracy,” Johnson said. "So we are out here in solidarity with all the workers out there and fighting for not only workers rights, but also all our citizens rights, too.”
