SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Many celebrated Labor Day at an event in Springfield.
The Springfield Central Labor Council hosted the community’s traditional Labor Day picnic. Visitors packed Fassnight Park to enjoy free food and music.
The event’s classic car show host said the efforts of American workers, then and now, deserve respect.
“America was founded on the blue-collar workers, especially the automotive scene,” said Kent Williams of Pharoahs Car Club. “A lot of Detroit is represented here. You go back to the heyday of car manufacturing and all the assembly line jobs, that’s what made America great. You served your country and you served your job and you did both of those with pride.”
Although there will be no parade this year, organizers say they will attempt to bring it back next ye
