ROCHESTER, Minn.- A crew of 8 to 10 Rochester Public Transit drivers will be working through Labor Day this year to maintain access to public transit.
According to Adam Buzbee, the driver's representative at Rochester's local chapter of the Amalgamated Transit Union, having a small crew working through holidays like this is essential for the customers who rely on the service.
"When you have the day off that is the time that you run, do your grocery shopping and do things you might not have time for during the rest of the week, so it's an important service and its imperative that we have service on the road so people can get that done who don't have access to other means of transportation," Buzbee said.
During holidays like this he says staff default to RPT's weekend hours from 6:30 a.m.
