MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident after a failed traffic stop on Saturday.

The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. on Highway 16 in the Township of Lewiston.

Officials say a deputy attempted to pull over a motorcycle that had no registration plates. The motorcycle driver briefly slowed down and pulled over but allegedly drove away from the scene before the officer could reach them, officials said.

The incident is still under investigation, though Columbia County officials expect to have an arrest and charges filed within the coming days.
