CHICAGO — During his childhood in Southern California, Yankees third baseman Ryan McMahon remembers asking his mother if he watch “South Park.” He wanted to be like his friends and laugh at Cartman, Stan and Kenny.

“She shot that down quick,” McMahon told NJ Advance Media before Sunday’s 3-2 Yankees loss to the White Sox.

His parents could be strict.

“In a good way,” he said. “That’s just kind of the way I was raised. Both parents are from service households … one Army, one Navy.”

Television privileges, even for approved cartoons that didn’t have adult humor, were taken away for bad behavior.

“Especially if I got bad grades,” McMahon said with a smile.

Accountability was preached in his household.

“I was taught to be real with yourself,” he said.
