As the season winds down, the plate production of Gavin Cross is going way up.
The former Tennessee High and Virginia Tech slugger was the most recent recipient of Texas League player of the week honors as he’s been swinging the bat splendidly for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
In six games last week against Amarillo, Cross hit .379 (11-for-29) with three home runs, three doubles, two triples, two stolen bases, eight runs scored and seven RBIs.
That capped off an exceptional August in which the 24-year-old outfielder hit .298 with six homers over the course of 23 games.
