SIMSBURY, Conn. (WFSB) - A local teen will take the court on Tuesday at the U.S. Open.

Kaya Moe is a tennis player from Avon who practices at “Rackets for Life” in Simsbury.

She is competing in the junior doubles tournament which is made up of players under 18 years old.

Eyewitness News caught up with Kaya and her coach who just happens to be her mom.

“It’s so cool, just to walk around and you have your credentials with people looking at you.” expressed Kaya. “You just feel more confident.”

Kaya told us what she hopes achieves after this milestone.

“D1 tennis has been my goal forever, but I’m definitely not putting a limit on myself for after that. I just want to see where those four years will take me and see my path after that. I just don’t want to put a limit on how far I can go i
