NILES, Ohio (WKBN) -- A colorful project on the roads near Niles Middle School aims to make the streets safer.
Students painted crosswalks and on-street pedestrian sidewalks on Second, Third and Brown streets Monday.
The temporary infrastructure changes were made using the school's colors, red and blue.
It's all part of a safe street demonstration that aims to show the community possible changes while also creating an opportunity to apply for grant funding to make it permanent -- all in an effort to enhance walkability and bikeability.
"It makes it fun, artistic. The students and the individuals who worked on this are able to kind of make it their own instead of it being something plain and bland. This is more highly visible. It attracts more attention,' said Kris Kriebel, health educa
