ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - An apartment fire that claimed the life of a woman and critically injured a minor is now being investigated as a possible arson.
“I looked at the Ring camera and that’s when I saw the gentleman running out of the apartment, with this whatever he had in his hand that was on fire, and his pant legs were on fire,” said Freda Scott, who lives next door.
Fire crews responded to the 5000 block of Fairington Road in Stonecrest around 1 a.m. on Labor Day.
When they arrived, firefighters quickly worked to put out the fire and get everyone out of the complex.
In the surveillance video, neighbors were also banging on the doors and windows of the impacted unit.
“By this time, the whole apartment, the downstairs, was engulfed. So nobody could go in to help her,”
