(NewsNation) — The jobs eligible for a tax deduction under the "no tax on tips" policy in President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill" were revealed to Axios on Monday by the Treasury Department.
In July, Trump signed his One Big Beautiful Bill into law, after it narrowly passed the House and Senate. One of the policies included in the controversial megabill was to eliminate taxes on tips.
In 2023, Yale's budget lab estimated that approximately 4 million Americans worked in tipped industries, accounting for roughly 2.5% of all employment in the country.
Initially, it was unclear what jobs the tax deductions would apply to. Now, the Treasury Department has settled on an "expansive but fair" list, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Axios.
