WOODVILLE, Texas (KTRE) - A hazmat team is still working to fight what’s left of a fire that broke out a Woodville tire recycling plant.
According to the Tyler County Emergency Management Office, a US Fire Pump’s hazmat team remains at Local Tire Disposal in Woodville to continue working the smoldering tires after a fire broke out there Saturday.
The smoke is decreasing and the air quality in the area is high. The Enviornmental Protection Agency will continue to monitor the air quality in the aftermath of the fire.
Tyler County Emergency Management would also like to thank the community for supporting first responders throughout the course of the fire.
36 different fire departments responded to the tire fire, including Beech Grove VFD, Jasper Fire, and Livingston Fire.
