An armed man who was barricaded at a hotel in the Harbor Gateway neighborhood is in custody Monday after Los Angeles Police Department officers arrested him after the multi-hour standoff.
Officers from the department’s Harbor Division responded at 11:30 p.m. Sunday after the suspect barricaded himself on the second floor of the hotel at 140th Street and Vermont Avenue, LAPD Officer Rosario Cervantes told City News Service.
LAPD officers at the scene requested assistance from a SWAT team, which arrived and began trying to coax the suspect into surrendering.
The suspect eventually surrendered to police just before 1 a.m. Monday, Cervantes said.
It was not known what prompted the suspect to barricade himself at the hotel.
