GREEN BAY — Turns out, the back issue Micah Parsons was dealing with throughout training camp with the Dallas Cowboys wasn’t merely a negotiating ploy in his effort to get a new deal from his now-former employer.

The Green Bay Packers new star edge rusher does indeed have an authentic back injury, and while no one at 1265 Lombardi Avenue was panicking on Monday, Parsons may have to get an anti-inflammatory injection in order to play on Sunday against the Detroit Lions in the Packers’ regular-season opener at Lambeau Field.

A source confirmed what was first reported by ESPN and NFL Network: That Parsons has a sprain of the L4/L5 facet joint in his back, but he still very much intends to play against the Lions.
