LANSING, MI -- Lottery players across the country hope this Labor Day is extra special for them as the Powerball jackpot for the Sept. 1 drawing is worth $1.1 billion. The current jackpot the fifth largest of all time, and has a cash option of $498.4 million.
Once again, MLive will provide results of the drawing shortly after it takes place at 11 p.m. EST.
There have been 39 drawings without a jackpot winner, leading to tonight’s massive jackpot. The last time the grand prize was won came on May 31, when a player in California matched all five white balls and the red Powerball.
Powerball is offered in 45 States, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Players select five white numbers from (1 to 69) and one red ball (1 to 26). Tickets cost $2 each.
