LONG VALLEY JUNCTION, Kane County — One person died in a crash after a semitruck left the roadway in Kane County.

A semitruck pulling a trailer was traveling north on U.S. 89 just north of Long Valley Junction when the semi veered off the roadway to the right for an unknown reason, Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cameron Roden said.

"The vehicle traveled through rough terrain and was stopped abruptly by an embankment," he said.

The trailer overtook the front of the truck, dislodging the cab body from the chassis. The cab continued to roll, striking an unattended vehicle that was parked on the shoulder of the road, Roden said.

The semitruck driver died from his injuries. Their identity has not been released.
