KANE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) -- A semi-truck driver hauling wood chips is dead after a crash in Kane County Monday afternoon, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

At around 12:45 p.m. on Sept. 1, a 2025 Kenworth semi pulling a semi-trailer was heading northbound on US-89 near milepost 108. The driver reportedly left the road to the right for an unknown reason, going through rough terrain before crashing into an embankment.

The semi-trailer then "overtook the truck-tractor and dislodged the cab body from the chassis," according to UHP. The cab continued, police said, striking an unattended vehicle that was parked on the shoulder.

The driver and sole occupant of the semi-truck was declared deceased.

The owner of the unattended vehicle was reportedly in a field nearby and responded to the scene
