ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — With the Powerball topping $1.1 billion, one store near Grand Rapids with a history of big wins saw lots of hopeful players.

As the hand-painted sign out front says, Party World on Alpine Avenue NW is the luckiest place in the world.

On Monday, it was also busy with wannabe-billionaires dropping $2 a ticket for a chance at $1.1 billion — among the biggest lottery jackpots ever.

Annette Gomer swung by Party World on her way home from work.

“Just to buy the Powerball ticket and I don’t usually play,” she said.

A friend had suggested it. “The luckiest winners are here,” Gomer said.

If she wins, Gomer said she would retire and buy her husband a Camaro.
