OTSEGO, Mich. (WOOD) — A fire damaged part of a play structure at an Otsego park just after midnight Tuesday, according to city officials.

It happened at North Side Park, located at River Street and Watson Road.

The blaze caused "extensive damage" to a section about 20 feet by 40 feet on the east side of the castle play structure, but no injuries were reported, officials said. Firefighters quickly contained it.

Police are investigating the fire as vandalism and are asking anyone with information to contact the department.

The city says it has filed an insurance claim and plans to inspect and partially demolish the damaged portion of the play structure, so that the rest of the structure can be used. Repairs will follow.
