Actor Graham Green, best known for his work in the 1990 film "Dances With Wolves," has died at the age of 73.

Greene played "Kicking Bird" in the Best Picture-winning movie, earning an Oscar nomination for his performance opposite Kevin Costner.

Graham died on Monday in Toronto after a long illness, his agent told Deadline he was "a great man of morals, ethics and character."

Throughout his career, the Canadian-Indian actor opened doors for other indigenous performers.

Among Green's other credits are "The Green Mile," "Die Hard With a Vengeance," "Maverick" and "The Twilight Saga: New Moon."
