Labor Day was celebrated in a special way in Millbrook. Uncle Bob’s Sauces and Rubs hosted a hot dog eating contest.

This was the first All American Hot Dog Eating Contest to be held at the 17 Springs recreation and sports complex.

The contestants had 10 minutes to eat as many hot dogs as they could. There were two contestants who ate 13 hotdogs but the winner, JD Miller of Prattville, won by a bite.

That’s enough to earn him $500 and a championship belt.

“What was the hardest part about this? Maintaining it until the end,” Miller told Action 8 News. “Just trying to keep going until the end. Everyone sees it on TV on the Fourth of July, and you think you could do that, but I was at my limit and I couldn’t have gone any more. But I’m glad I ate that last bite though.”
