The Erie County Republican Party held a Labor Day picnic on Monday afternoon.
The annual event invited people, whether registered Republicans or not, to enjoy free food, games, and raffles.
Republican candidates running for election in November attended the picnic to give speeches and talk to voters. Organizers said getting voters involved with local politics is important for the party.
"Local candidates have more influence on what your life is going to be like than anybody else because they can put in, like in school districts, policies or tax increases that is going to be felt right away," said Tom Eddy, chairman of the Erie County Republican Party.
Over a dozen republican candidates running for election spoke at Monday's event.
