(WJET/WFXP)-- One of the busiest sections of the Bayfront Parkway, along with several other nearby streets, is set to close on Tuesday for roughly one year; here's what you need to know, from detours to what to expect.

Starting in the early hours of Tuesday, September 2, PennDOT will be closing the stretch of the Bayfront Parkway from Sassafras Street Extension to Holland Street, along with State Street between Second Street and East Front Street.

No specific time was given, but PennDOT said the closure will happen before peak commuting hours.

PennDOT said in May that they were considering closing the area after suffering setbacks that could delay completing the project from 2027 to 2029. When all is said and done with the project, it's expected to look like the rendering below.
