CHAPEL HILL — UNC football quarterback Gio Lopez exited the game with a back injury against TCU on Monday night after being tackled and giving up a fumble that was returned for a touchdown.
UNC announced Lopez's back injury late in the third quarter.
Lopez appeared to injure his back with 6:56 left in the third quarter. Lopez was hobbled and limped to the sideline after being tackled on a play that led to the Horned Frogs taking a 41-7 lead in the third quarter. Max Johnson, who is back after a season-ending leg injury, replaced Lopez at quarterback with 6:51 left in the third quarter.
