LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Women often labor for hours and even days when bringing a new life into the world, but the laboring doesn’t stop once the baby is out. Some mothers say the most difficult task is breastfeeding.
The National Institute of Health says approximately 70.3% of women struggle to breastfeed, experiencing issues like mastitis, plugged ducts, and inadequate milk supply.
Those physical difficulties can lead to other issues mentally, like postpartum depression. That’s why CHRISTUS Ochsner Lake Area launched a new initiative to help support mothers in Southwest Louisiana.
