BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. — A viewer emailed WFMY News 2 about a string of break-ins in Browns Summit.

WFMY News 2's Nixon Norman was out there today, she met four families who were hit in the past two weeks, three of them just last night.

Popped open doors. Busted out windows. Personal belongings thrown around. Once an uncommon scene off Kathy Lynn Place became common overnight.

Jerry Morphis has lived in the Browns Summit area for 65 years. He said something was off this morning.

“Well, I knew something was wrong,” Morphis said.

The same thieves that targeted his neighbors’ cars also broke into his RV.

“I come out in the yard with the dog and I noticed the door was open a little ways and I never leave the door open,” he said. “I might not lock it but I don’t leave it open.”
