ELLIS COUNTY, Texas — Jeff Kellum is at his boiling point.

But to show us what's got him steaming hot, Kellum grabbed a meat thermometer from a kitchen drawer and had us follow him into the bathroom.

He turned on the cold tap — cold only — and together we watched the number on the thermometer display climb until it reached 106°.

"It’s always hot," he said. "You can’t shower without burning yourself. That’s a problem."

No matter the time of day, no matter the faucet, Kellum said the cold water at his home in the Aday Estates subdivision comes out hot.

"It's frustrating because I can't enjoy my home," Strickland said.
