The man accused of smashing his vehicle into the front gates of the Russian consulate in Sydney will remain in custody after a brief court appearance.

Rimi Abraham, 39, faced the Bail Division Court on Tuesday where he was formally charged with 10 offences, and despite the serious allegations, no application for bail was made.

Police allege Mr Abraham deliberately drove his white Toyota Kluger SUV into the consulate’s entrance on Fullerton Street, Woollahra, about 8am on Monday.

Officers say he had earlier parked in the driveway, jumped the fence and entered the grounds before returning to his vehicle.

It’s claimed the impact left the gates with “significant damage”.
