HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - After a 23-year-old man died from an electric motorcycle crash early Monday morning, area lawmakers and cyclists are urging riders to follow the rules.

Police say the man was not wearing a helmet when he was speeding along Kuhina Street at about 2:30 a.m., rammed into a parked truck, then was thrown to the road and died at the scene.

A resident who found the man, wished to remain anonymous, but said, “All I heard was a big crash. When I heard it, I just came out here right away. It was pretty graphic. It was not pleasing for anyone slight of stomach to look at.”

The collision happened just a couple of miles away from a memorial along Kolowaka Drive, where a 15-year-old boy who was also riding an e-motorcycle without a helmet died about two weeks ago.
