(WHTM) — The City of Harrisburg hosts its Kipona Festival yearly, but many may not know what the festival is celebrating.

According to the City of Harrisburg's website, the Kipona Festival is a three-day Labor Day weekend celebration held along the Susquehanna River. The festival is a multicultural celebration with numerous family-friendly exhibits and activities, including a Family Fun Zone, live music, food trucks, a beer/wine garden, a Giant Puppet Parade, Art in the Park, Keystone Dock Dogs competition, fireworks, a drone show, and much more.

The Kipona Festival is open to anyone of any age or culture, and its coordinators are deeply rooted in Native American history.
