A 30-year-old man was recently killed following a confrontation with a law enforcement officer, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

The Florence County Coroner’s Office said Justin Lowery was the armed man who shot at an ambulance on Aug. 27 before he was fatally shot by a Florence County Sheriff’s Office deputy, SLED said in a news release.

Deputies got involved when they responded to a domestic violence call at a home on Anderson Field Road, according to the release. Deputies encountered an armed man, later identified as Lowery, SLED said.
