The Tulsa Area United Way’s annual fund drive began last week with the nonprofit world in turmoil.

Since the Trump administration began in January, many of the government grants and contracts that nonprofits nationwide depend on for nearly a third of their funding have been cancelled and cut back, or are in imminent danger.

“It’s a fluid situation and evolving,” said TAUW Executive Director Alison Anthony.

Tax changes likely mean a net loss of $40 billion in contributions over 10 years, according to projections.
