Northstowe is due to get a temporary ‘town centre hub’ offering space for cafes, bars, and services for the growing population. The proposed “meanwhile hub” is due to be built on underutilised land off Stirling Road.

The project has been given temporary planning permission for five years. It is proposed to be removed and replaced by a permanent town centre at a later date.

Up to 10,000 homes are due to be built in the new town of Northstowe , with over 1,000 homes already built. Concerns have been raised in the past about the lack of facilities for people moving into the new town.

The plans for the new meanwhile hub were put forward by Homes England and Capital and Civic. The developers said the “meanwhile development” would offer some facilities for the growing population in Norths
