Salisbury, MD – A Sunday night fire damaged a Ruby Tuesday restaurant in Wicomico County after flames broke out in an exterior utility closet, officials said.

The blaze was reported around 10:47 p.m. at the North Fruitland Boulevard location. Twenty-four firefighters from the Fruitland Volunteer Fire Company responded, bringing the one-alarm fire under control in about 10 minutes.

No injuries were reported, and no one was displaced. The restaurant sustained an estimated $50,000 in structural damage, according to investigators.

Officials said the fire originated in a utility closet and was caused by careless smoking. Smoke alarms and sprinklers were present in the building but did not activate due to the fire’s location.
