Many people think they own the fence to the left of their house - but this isn't always the case. You can't be sure without checking your property's title deeds. ‌

If you own your home, these papers should have been given to you when you bought the property. If boundary details aren't shown on the plans, or if you rent, you'll have to get in touch with the Land Registry. ‌

On the documents, fence ownership is marked by a "T" on one side of the boundary line. If you see two Ts joined together, looking like an "H", the boundary is shared by both neighbours.
