New boycotts of Amazon, Uber and Pepsi Co. are happening all September, and a new group is calling for an extended national economic blackout this fall.

These are the latest in a long string of financial protests aimed at getting companies to make requested changes. There have been multiple large-scale spending freezes since February, and several major brands and retailers have been the focus of 7-day or month-long boycotts . Some have lasted a month or longer.

While many of the economic protests in 2025 have been an effort to pressure companies into resuming diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs, not all are. Some have more general social goals or aim to send a message to the federal government.
