ASHEVILLE - Organizers estimate over 500 people marched from Pack Square Park to Prichard Park in downtown Asheville on Sept. 1, mobilizing to demand just wages, benefits, and appreciation for workers on Labor Day.

The protest was among more than a thousand “Workers Over Billionaires” events planned nationwide over the Labor Day weekend. Protestors held signs in support of workers’ rights, protecting public school funding, and against President Donald Trump, with messages similar to those of the “No Kings” protests from June .
