The Boston Red Sox recently signed Aroldis Chapman to a one-year, $13 million extension, which also includes a mutual vesting option for 2027.
Chapman is having one of the best seasons of his career and is showing that his age is not slowing him down. He is still lighting up the radar gun and was named an All-Star. However, it is hard to deny that the 27-year-old is close to the end of his career.
Chapman's extension at least ties him to playing next year for the Red Sox. However, there are questions about how long he will continue to play. Chapman assured Tuesday he will continue until the wheels fall off.
"I don't want to retire, and then in two or three years, have that regret that I could have done it for more time, or I could potentially come back," Chapman said, per The Athletic's
