NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A proposal before Nashville's Metro Council could prohibit truck parking on neighborhood streets.
The ordinance, proposed by Council Member Tasha Ellis, would expand parking regulations to include box trucks, food trucks, food trailers and semi-trailers.
The new law would lower the weight limit from 18,000 pounds to 10,000 pounds. It would replace the current overnight parking ban with a two-hour limit at all times of day for heavy trucks, tanker trucks and dump trucks.
Council Member Ellis said the proposal is based on community feedback, and will help reduce dangerous obstructions while supporting safety for drivers and pedestrians.
But, Ellis said it still allows for the loading and unloading of trucks and permitted food vendors.
