Schools back in, Hamilton — but not all students made the first bell of the year.

Nearly 100 buses were running behind schedule on the first day of school , according to Hamilton-Wentworth Transportation Services, the consortium shared between the city’s two largest school boards.

Delays ranged from 10 minutes to more than 75 minutes as of mid-morning, but had nearly all cleared up by 10:40 a.m.

The hefty amount of delays comes just days after a spokesperson for the public board told The Spectator that there were “enough drivers” to cover all scheduled routes.
