Jobs are flying off the shelf in Hamilton.

The new TD Coliseum hosted an in-person job fair with over 600 part-time roles up for grabs, and the community responded.

Doors opened at 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, and people started lining up hours before.

According to Céline Séguin, assistant general manager and vice-president of events for Oak View Group, about 1,700 people came through their doors over two days to apply.

The line may have been a shocking sight, but StatsCan data shows employment in Hamilton has risen for six months in a row. It’s a streak that outpaces any city in the province , by a significant margin.
