USACE issues post-Erin update on Buxton FUDS site

The Buxton Formerly Used Defense Sites property sustained damage when Hurricane Erin passed by the Outer Banks in North Carolina Aug. 21, 2025. Officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Headquarters and South Atlantic Division were on the ground alongside the Savannah District commander, Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) program team and Bay West contractors at the Buxton FUDS property this week assessing the damage unearthed by Hurricane Erin to determine the best way forward to clean up the site.
