LIBERTY CITY, Texas — A father and his teenage daughter were killed in a shooting at a Liberty City park Monday afternoon.

In a news release, the Gregg County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to multiple victims at Hugh Camp Park in Liberty City. Several agencies began giving life-saving aid to the victims.

But the two victims, who were identified as 16-year-old Hailey Nicole Blake and her father 49-year-old Shawn Glen Blake, died at the scene, the GCSO said.

The suspect, Christopher Wayne Hicks Jr, who is believed to be Hailey Blake's boyfriend, was taken to local hospital with serious life-threatening injuries, which officials believe were self-inflicted.
