KNOX COUNTY — The Knox Fiscal Court met Wednesday for its regularly scheduled meeting, where magistrates took action on key issues including federal funding for black lung recipients, and infrastructure deterioration at a county bridge.

The court unanimously approved a resolution urging U.S. Senators Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul, along with Congressman Hal Rogers, to support legislation increasing monthly black lung benefits. Judge-Executive Mike Mitchell explained that current increases are tied to the federal wage scale rather than inflation.
