MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Madison Police Department arrested an allegedly intoxicated driver who crashed into both a parked car and a tree, the department said Tuesday.

Officers responded after 4 p.m. Monday to the 2100 block of South Thompson Drive, where they found the driver to be showing signs of impairment.

MPD said officers tried to do a field sobriety test, but the driver was unable to complete it.

Police arrested the suspect and took the individual to a local hospital. A further search of the vehicle revealed illegal drugs, police alleged.

The driver is facing charges of possession of fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine, and a second offense OWI.
