It might only be the first day of school for kids in Toronto, but Coun. Rachel Chernos Lin says she's already getting emails from frustrated parents, saying their concerns are going into the void.

"There is no local school trustee to answer them," she said, outside the first drop-off of the year at Owen Public School in North York.

"And of course, the beginning of school is a really busy time of year. People are wondering about school construction projects, they're wondering about daycare issues, they're wondering about school bus issues," she said. "That lack of parent voice that a trustee normally fills is definitely missing this year."
