VIN checks? Don’t call IMPD. Here’s the new way to get it done

You won't be able to call an Indianapolis police officer for a personal automobile VIN inspection anymore when trying to get some paperwork done to title a vehicle at the BMV.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police updated its VIN inspection process, which takes effect Sept. 2, to keep officers available for priority calls. The department is now offering VIN inspections at roll call locations instead of during patrols.
