A Middletown woman was killed Monday after a head-on vehicle collision in Hurley, police said.

On the evening of September 1, 2025, New York State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Route 209 in the town of Hurley. The incident occurred at approximately 5:32 p.m.

According to initial findings, a southbound 2019 Mercedes-Benz driven by 47-year-old Hawanatu I. Deen-Ayers of Middletown, attempted to overtake another vehicle by crossing into the northbound lane. At the same time, a 2021 Ford pickup truck, driven by 60-year-old David W. Lincoln of Accord, was approaching from the opposite direction.

To avoid a collision, Lincoln steered his vehicle onto the eastern shoulder of the road. However, the Mercedes-Benz also veered onto the same shoulder, resulting in a head-on crash.
