The drummer of a rock band that hails from Pennsylvania has made a major announcement.

The percussionist has left the band for now due to health concerns.

Loudwire reports that Shaun Foist — who has been the drummer of Wilkes-Barre-based Breaking Benjamin since 2014 — is stepping away from the band due an ailment known as Hashimoto’s disease.

According to the Mayo Clinic , Hashimoto’s disease is a type of autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid gland. Specifically, the ailment causes immune-system cells to kill hormone-producing ones, leading to a decline in hormone production.
