SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Notre Dame Fighting Irish still find themselves among the top 10 teams in the country despite losing their season opener on Sunday night.
Notre Dame dropped three spots from No. 6 to No. 9 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll after falling to Miami 27-24.
The Hurricanes, who were ranked No. 10 prior to beating Notre Dame, have jumped up to No. 5.
The Irish have a week off before welcoming No. 19 Texas A&M to South Bend next Saturday, Sept. 13.
Defending national champion Ohio State is the new No. 1 after beating previous No. 1 Texas this past Saturday. Penn State, LSU, Georgia and Miami round out the top five, respectively.
As for other regional teams in the poll, Michigan is No. 15 (down one spot) and Indiana is ranked No. 23 (down three spots)
