Not all sections of the Okanagan Rail Trail are as beautiful as the part that winds along the aquamarine waters of Kalamalka Lake. Or through the vineyards of Lake Country. Or along the base of Dilworth Mountain in Kelowna
But beautification efforts, being undertaken one shrub and one tree at a time, are underway to improve the aesthetic appeal of trail segments that bisect drab industrial areas.
A half-kilometre section of the trail near McCurdy Road in Kelowna has been planted with dozens of new trees and a diverse mix of hundreds of shrubs. To ensure the new plantings thrive, the soil in the area has also been enriched.
